Good afternoon all.
Would Portee mounted guns (thinking of the French 25mm but others also available) be readily able to dismount? Just wondering if they were somehow fixed onto the lorry carrying them or if they should be treated as normal towed weapon’s.

Ic you're talking about the French 25mm on the Bedford QLG, as used by the BEF in France there was no capability to fire from the truck so that is effectively a towed weapon.

Unsure about the various French portees

The British 2pdr portee was fired from it's truck though

Indeed. My understanding is that the 2pdr portees in North Africa were used since the ground was often not suitable for firing the guns from. The lorry didn't just make the gun more mobile, it guaranteed a stable platform to fire from.

The guns could be certainly be dismounted, but given the weight of them I doubt it could be done quickly.
