If an A/T (75mm) section with an infantry platoon adjacent (touching) is attacked from the front by a platoon of 2 tanks and 1 of the tanks gets within an inch of the infantry.

Is it 2 melees A/T vs 1 tank and Inf vs tank or 1 melee 2 tanks vs A/T gun as the gun was the target of the overun.

I would say it depends on whether you attack as 2 sections with 2 commands or as a platoon with one command.

If you attack with 2 commands you can allocate one tank to the guns and one to the infantry and fight seperatly. If they attack as a pair then the infantry and gun defends as a pair with one calculation.

As they are adjacent you cannot attack one without the other, but with 2 commands you could prioritise the gun with one tank section, while the other keeps the infantry busy!

Thanks for the reply. Where in the rules does it say because they are adjacent you cannot attack one without the other.

You start a melee by coming within 1" , so unless coming in from the flank, it's difficult not to be within 1" if adjacent targets?
