Curse you Infamy

Post by Baldie »

I was absolutely going to do my 15mm Pikes for my Macedonian/Seleucid/anyone else who fancies carrying a big pointy stick into battle force.

Then a chum suggested Infamy Infamy and I am all in again.

Ancient British started and EIR in the sidelines.

First group of 10 warriors started.
I picked up the conquest of Gaul box set ages ago but never started em.

I was worried about the sculpts a bit as I think they have gone over the top with the crouch and stick both arms out screaming look.
Actually I like em, only bit I find really odd is that there are two chain mail wearing figs per sprue, rich warriors no doubt.
But they both have a spear/javelin and I thought that the sword was the ultimate status symbol, they do both have a sword in a scabbard but as I understood it they should be waving their Ferrari costing choppers round.

Or am I getting confused with dark ages?

At least I have made a start.

Spears are cheap and effective. Certainly in the Anglo-Saxon period a well equipped warrior would have both.

Cracking through em now.

2 x 10 Noble warriors, you can tell they are noble cos they have helmets, most of the mail and banners/horns. Put together
1 x 10 Tribal warriors. Put together

The more I do the more I like em

Ordering a few more

Not sure how they will play as most systems I use Ancient British in they get a good kicking.
Could of course be their general but I do find my main goal when playing warband armies is to give the commander of the smart lads standing in line on the other side of the table a good time.

Odd occasions where table is full of terrain have been fun though.

For those who know me I am a little excitable when a project grips me.

Went into my local gaming shop today and two chums were playing Infamy.

EIR vs Gauls, actually it was late Roman vs Anglo Saxons as stand ins are all the rage when new rule sets are tried out.
The Gallic big nobs on horse had crashed into some Roman auxiliary troops, actually they seemed to sidle up slowly before men and horses were brutalised by the Roman's.

Spurred me on to get few more figs done before er indoors called timec and decided I really needed to watch a film.

2 x 10 Nobles
2 x 10 Warriors
6 x Slingers
8 x Fanatics, few more on way now

All stuck to bases

Try to get last couple of sets of warriors and slingers done later then try to find the cavalry.

If I can get em ready for under coating I may stick some Roman's together as a chum with no forces as yet wants a demo, blind leading the blind at the mo.

Well, that was a turn up.
Just found the British Cavalry, hey were in a box of stuff I had put to one side.

As the British are nearly put together I was thinking of the Romans and realised I needed some more stuff including Archers.
Had forgotten I had a couple of blisters of them from a stalled SAGA force I was planning.

Just shows what we all probably have hidden away.

Fanatics are in 6’s! 1 group is enough

Thanks, didn't spot that.

My order is getting cheaper by the day, or I could get four and do two units.

Got up early and did the cavalry, they are the old cav set with metal horses and legs and torsos in plastic, took ages to clean and i am still not totally sold on the look at me balance with both arms out style.

TBH I am sure i could ruin even the. best sculptures.

Force now put together and on bases, they will be going into sabots as I hope for a SAGA age of ancients at some point and have just bought clash.

Sorry clash I fear for me you may now get sidelined by my Infamy games.

Onto the painting stage, this bit may be slower.

Thanks to a chum I have a Roman force.
He put em together for HC and they are plastic on plastic bases so ain't coming off.
Clipping round them and adding them to 2p bases so they will be a little taller than your average Roman but I am happy with that.

Got some archers and extra bits and Bob's but def a good head start.
