French Airborne 1940. Uniforms?

Post by andysyk »

Does anybody know what the French Airborne Battalion wore in 1940. Ive details of organisation and armament but not uniforms. Im guessing canvas fatigues and motorised helmets but its pure conjecture.

Ive mostly answered my own question. Mixture of canvas and what looks like standard uniform, no greatcoats. Headdress balaclavas and berets.
They had canvas and some leather? Overalls for jumping. Along with leather crashhelmets. But never made a jump.
I was going to use Crusader Minis MC troops which fit apart from the helmets.

I am sure someone once said "The more I learn the more I realise I dont know"
Sounds good anyway.

Just like the US Marine para-battalions, they never did an operational drop. Made up for it in Indo-china after the war though.
