A question of armour

Post by OzRecon63 »

Was playing a game with a mate when he asked a question that I couldn't find an answer for. Does armour have any impact on survivability of the different types of troops in DB?
I know the rules state that Levy usually just have a shield, Warriors will have a helmet &shield at least, and Elite's will have helmet, mail armour, & shield.

What he wanted to know is does armour affect the wound/shock roll (like an armour save) or is the wound/shock roll more affected by the level of training of the affected troops?

I'm no expert but I suspect it's a combination of things vs to make the system and levels of troops work vs. anything specific like you are asking.

It's an abstraction of both. A combination of being good enough to avoid/parry what would otherwise be a hit, and having good enough armour to soak some of the ones you can't dodge.

Cheers for all the replies. I've got a feeling my mate thought it was a historical warhammer game. I'm still enjoying the game..
