Eastern Front 1941 Scenarios

Post by DougM » Fri Nov 08, 2019 2:10 pm

Hi
I'm hoping to have a run out with my newly completed Early War Germans, and my in-progress Soviets at our next game, and I was looking around for a good scenario.

I have the Kursk and Winterstorm PSC, but I was ideally hoping someone already had a 1941 scenario written up I could use. Obviously it's not entirely beyond the wit of man (or woman) to come up with something new, but it would be nice if it came from a 'Neutral' source :D

If Big Chain of Command suits you then the Skirmish Campaign books can be useful but they need a bit of converting (you need to add enough troops to make a full infantry platoon, they always have only a few squads). Here's one scenario we've played (the game system was not CoC though but could have been). The example scenario is in a link in the report there are more on the Skirmish Campaigns site.

Oh yes you can also take a look at the Action at Ustilug and Battle of Kharkov PSCs, they're for CoC.

We had great fun playing through the Ustilug campaign. It seems likely to end eventually in a German victory since there is no time limit in the campaign (historically accurate) but you could certainly agree on some sort of time limit before playing. Especially if you use the restrictions on support that is available based on the level at which they are attached, it makes it likely to very much be an infantry campaign without any AFV and limited heavy weapons.

There is also a First Battle of Kharkov 1941 campaign by Chris Stoessen that looks very ambitious but we haven't tried that one yet.

I also have the Kharkov one. But I have pretty much decided I am going to go with a one-off scenario, very loosely based on the engagement at Zhitomir as part of the Battle of Uman with Fascist Invaders attempting to encircle the glorious armies of the workers state.

I will be using 'Early War' Germans as 131 Infantry Regiment, 44 Infantry Division, 17 Corps, and their Soviet opponents will be elements of the 9th Mechanised Corps. The Soviets cut the main highway threatening German supplies to the panzer corps engaged with 6th and 12th Corps to the South-West, and 44 Division was called on to re-open the road. Nothing too complicated.
