ALL VOLLEYS: Long Range

Post by Tony TRT »

Hi Dave,
This is a follow up question to your response to Deadbeat Volleys.
In your response you said:
Regiments in column always use the deadbeat volley line and halve any casualties they inflict. A large regiment still gets its +2CDs
but any casualties are halved.

All Small or Standard Regiments in Double Line use the deadbeat volley and halve any casualties they inflict.

Large regiments in double line use the standard volley and still get its +2CD but halve any casualties they inflict.

By extension should Long Range volleys for regiments in double line or column have their casualties halved?

Regards
Tony

This does seem logical now though I note that two standard regiments side by side, each in double line will inflict fewer casualties on average than a single standard regiment in a single line, unless the single regiment is also on the deadbeat line for some other reason (e.g. FD or inferior muskets).

On the other hand, unless a -2 or more modifier applies, the two regiments will have a higher chance of an ET result.
