What a Tanker 40,000

Post by AmazingRCat » Mon May 28, 2018 3:06 pm

I decided to write a mod for What a Tanker that allows players to use Warhammer 40k tanks in their campaigns.
It features career ladders for Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Orks, Eldar, Tau and Necrons.

Enjoy!

How much work do you have to do to set up in a fictional setting?

I have played Chain of Command in the Quar world, and they also have some tanks (or tractors as they are called there).

They are very fictional, but are not science fiction. Not very high armor, maybe more like WW1 tanks. But there aren't a great variety. Just a couple of tractor types per army.

From your document, it looks like there is not much data needed per tank. Is there a system for calculating points? Something in the style of the CoCulator would be fine.

How important to the game is the career ladder? I won't have that much variety.

These are not my pictures:

Andy,
You don't need to use a career ladder to play the game. The system of allocating Wild Cards to experienced crews and securing Veteran status for the best crews will allow you some ability to distinguish between your tanks as their crews gain experience.

We may see a points system appear in the next Special but it looks to be Armour + Strike Value with and additional +1 for beneficial characteristics like Fast. A point or two here or there won't make much difference.

If you want my points system ---which I think gives more balanced games with multiple tank types, I will give you the basis on how I did it:

Add the Armour and Strike values as in the basic rules; but apply these modifiers to each value:

2 = 1
3 = 2
4 = 4
5 = 7
6 = 8
7 = 14
8 = 20
9 = 23
10 = 30
11 = 38
12 = 42

Then add the extra values:

Slow -1
Fast +1
Heavy Armour +2
Low Profile +1
Small +1
Iron Fist +2
Slow Turret -1
Rapid Fire +1

The original rules do not make TD's +1, so I haven't either.

I love how people post links to sites that no longer exist...this is the fourth one I've found this morning where the link goes to something else like an online real estate page.

Hi Danni1

Sorry, there's been a bit of a mixup. I'm not sure what happened entirely but the WAT40K tweet must've been deleted by mistake.
Here's a new link that goes straight to the source, no need to worry about Twitter!

Hope you enjoy!
