Draws in True Grit! Melee

Post by MSG »

Hi all,

We encountered a rarer result that surprised us with the result in our last game with equal casualties in melee for both sides. With both units retiring it caused a massive blowout in the lines. More than happy with unformed, casualty for retiring etc, and how the whole combat mechanic worked until the point when we ended up 3 foot apart  We decided on the spot to implement a step back result and plan to do this from now on. Thoughts or did we miss something?

cheers, MSG

MSG,

Glad you are enjoying the game!

When retiring after a melee the retire move, as with Whipped, permits a retiring unit to halt behind a friendly unit.

So, if you have a supporting line or regiment the retire move is not so far, but no supports means as bigger hole in your lines!

Dave, when you say "behind" in this context do you mean physically behind, or is simply "still beside, but further back" sufficient?

Cheers DB,

We played it right by the rules then but then we modified it so it looked to look right to us visually :D That similar result in GdA hasn't been an issue as there's always more units coming up behind. Time to paint some more ACW then!

thanks,
