Feel as though I’m being a bit dense but I think you’ve lost me there. What on-screen motto??BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:29 am Excellent post, MLB. You even hint at my on-screen motto.....

That's the one! You have obviously been paying attention, Mr Bond.
Oh no, wait....that's one of the other Aussies, isn't it.

Ah, your signature, d’oh, got it. There’s me thinking you were some sort of TV celebrity a la Bruce Forsyth, “nice to see you, to see you....niiiice”. I’m a dick.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:11 pm That's the one! You have obviously been paying attention, Mr Bond.

I've written an article on the blog about Force structure and supports as a guide for new players, particularly those coming from a set of rules like Bolt Action where forces are constructed using points. I often find those players have the most trouble understanding force composition in CoC, so hopefully this is helpful.

Re: Getting started with Chain of Command
I am just getting into CoC and will be starting with the early war, I purchased the Blitzkreig PDF and looking at the 5 scenario maps towards the end I don't see any terrain on them? Having watched all the available Youtube Blitzkreig games by TFL and TTCP, I am wondering where I find the maps with defined terrain.
Thanks,
Graham W

Re: Getting started with Chain of Command
the scenarios in the rulebook and blitzkrieg sourcebook are just the core mission setups and objectives. They're meant to be the framework that you can apply to whatever terrain you want to play on. Most of the campaign scenarios are a combination of one of them with a specific terrain layout.
Maps with specific terrain are in all of the Pint-Sized Campaigns, and some are home-brewed by those channels as well.

Thanks Levi the Ox, I was beginning to suspect that.
I have purchased the related Early War PSC pdf's and now will start looking online for unit histories and suitable maps.
Just need Canada Post to deliver my goodies so I can get painting.
Cheers,
Graham W

Re: Getting started with Chain of Command
The PSCs are an easy prepackaged option that comes with maps.
If you want to get more individually creative, I thoroughly recommend getting the 'at the sharp end' campaign building supplement.
This PDF has instructions for formulating campaigns of varying complexity, and includes mechanisms that cover ongoing consequences of each battle (casualty attrition, unit morale, CO opinion etc).
Using this, I'm currently running a campaign set around 'Les Cendrieres' representing a German flanking attack around the French defences at Stonne.
Google maps provided the terrain guide.

Google Maps and/or Google Earth are invaluable resources for setting up tables.
