U.S. Army T19 Self-propelled

Post by Groupe_Franc »

The T19 was a 105mm howitzer mounted on a M3 halftrack. It served in the cannon platoon of the armored infantry battalions and the cannon companies of the infantry regiments. They were mostly replaced by the end of 1943 by the M8 and M7. It does not appear in the Consolidated Arsenal. What I'm wondering is whether they served in a direct fire role, possibly singly, frequently enough to justify adding it to the Arsenal and to the Support options for the U.S. Thoughts? TIA

Well, if you're doing Kelly's Heroes you have to have one! :)

IIRC the 75mm GMC served in the early cannon platoons and only later were various 105mm used.

I had asked about this awhile ago, and through several recommendations & comments, here's what I came up with:

Armor: 3
AP: 5
HE: 10
Open top
Support list: 6

I made a kit conversion to a M3 Halftrack to house the 105 gun...and yes for my Kelly's Hero project.

Hope this helps.

Hey Neal,
Was waiting when you were going to show up...didn't want to steal your thunder here, but I know it can be a pain to find particular posts in this forum.

Thanks for maintaining and the Consolidated Arsenal!

Neal, Thank you for adding it and generally for your work maintaining the Arsenal.
There was an incident on Sicily when some T19's engaged some German tanks. I guess it's OK to bring one as a support option. Take care
