New faq update (French VB Rifle Grenades):

I've just looked at the errata and it isn't correct for the French, we do need to make an exception for them as they operate in a very different way. The French should have sufficient for each man to fire three times but they may add more grenades buy purchasing them with support points. I think that provides the right balance as most games won't see many more than three such 'bombardments" anyway.

As for rolling to hit, you don't do that with rifle grenades. You just roll the firing dice, so three French VB grenadier will roll 6D6 hitting on 5 and 6.

New FAQ update from the FB group:

How many grenades have a Type 89 Grenade Discharger Squad?
Richard wrote:Lardy Rich: Same as the French as things stand. Not many nations grouped launchers together like this but the French and the Japs did so for identical reasons. So, three rounds each, but you can buy additional rounds with Support Points.

So for the French, are they still at half effect when firing at a new target? And to confirm, they can't fire indirectly?

My understanding is of using the Type 89 Grande Discharder is that they fire at half effect when they change target and they can fire indirectly provided another section can spot the target . At least that's the way we have intepreted the rules in our recent games. Hope it helps.

IS-2 and ISU-122
Is there a reason why the IS-2 has AP of 13, and the ISU-122 has 11?
My understanding is that they fired the same gun and ammo.

From the CoCulator both versions of the 122mm should have 11 HE dice. Suspect a cockup in the lists.

H.E. effect is actually better phrased as "anti-infantry effect", so a vehicle with an HMG is rated as 6, as it fires 6D6. A vehicle with an MMG or LMG, which do not reduce cover, is rated as 4, i.e. two thirds of an HMG. Other factors are based on the HE effect, thus:

1: At rifle, solid shot like 2 pounder.
2. 20mm
3: 37mm
4: 50mm, 57mm, 6 pounder
5: 75mm high velocity, 76mm high velocity, 17 pounder
6: 75mm low velocity, 20mm cannon
7: 85mm, 90mm, 40mm AA cannon
8: High velocity 100mm
9: 95mm, 100mm
10: 105mm, 1110mm
11: 122mm, 125mm
12: A breathing space...
13: 150mm
16: AVRE, anything daftly large

It's correct in the consolidated arsenal.

Guys, a misunderstanding. What I meant was the Anti-Tank value.
According to the FAQ, the ISU-122 has 11, while in the rulebook the IS-2 has 13.
(AP for me means Armour Piercing, not Anti-Personnel)
Hope this clears up my query.
Also, according to the FAQ, the ISU-122 has a Heavy Gun, but that does not exist in CoC.

IMO, we shouldn't be using the FAQ to "fix" stats like this. I don't know why the FAQ and rulebook are different.

The Consolidated Arsenal has them with the same AT and HE factors, for what that's worth. :)
