Sd.Kfz. 251/21 Drilling in CoC

Post by cornelius »

Working on a scenario with 107th Panzer Brigade vs 101 AB and find I need the stats for the Sd.Kfz. 251/21 Drilling, specifically one armed with triple 15mm aircraft cannon. The Consolidated Arsenal does not have it so is anyone aware of official stats? If not, I was thinking of treating it as a HMG with 12 Dice and would welcome any comments on that.

I believe the SdKfz 251/21 is in Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy issue 104, 'Task Force Chappuis'.

Mr Clarke himself in the TF Chappuis article made it "Sd.Kfz. 251/21 ‘Drilling’ (Armour 2, AP 4, HE 10, No secondary, Fast, open top)" so I am going with that. Today is the first day of face to face gaming for many months in the UK so it's a simple Probe scenario - 107th Pz Brigade vs 101st AB.

Interesting. Perhaps Rich has treated it as a Vehicle MG with two extra barrels so 6+2+2 = 10.
Like TT I would have said 14.

Note that Clarke seems to have given it 10 *HE*, not 10 FP. After all it's a small, fast-firing machine cannon with exploding rounds.

Played the first Face to Face game yesterday as planned. 3 Squad US Paras vs 3 Squad Regular Panzergrenadiers in attack, with second senior leader and the Drilling as support (one too few points to get a Panther). The paras had bought a single entrenchment with their one support point. Thanks to five (yes five) phases in a row the PG had lost about 40% of their strength very quickly. They then capped it off by the platoon bazooka blowing up the Drilling after it had killed a couple of riflemen, and the explosion taking the nearby Panzerschreck team with them. The firefight bogged down then.

Even at +10 rating, US paras are just awesome, particularly with my ability to roll double sixes for command. (We were also using the 6th die does not contribute to double phases rule).
