Tacking and Bow/stern chaser questions

Post by Jarrovian » Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:51 pm

Hello all,
I understand how tacking works, it's just a query about when you can tack.
Must it take place at the start of the move, or can it take place at the end? Similarly can it take place at any desired point along the move track when positional conditions for tracking are met?

2nd question regarding bow and stern chasers.
Are the additional dice for range and crew quality added/subtracted (poor shots) to the dice for bow and stern chasers? I presume the firing dice never fall below one, but get could quite high if all additions are allowed.

Hi Paul,

I will repeat the answer I gave on the KMH Facebook group:

1. You can tack at any point during the ship's movement when the conditions requiring a tack are met.

2. I do not apply any modifiers to fire from bow or stern chasers, they could potentially greatly distort the effect as you recognise. I only apply them to broadsides.
