800/3 is for the whole battalion!

Multiply my company of 3 groups by the number of companies in your battalion and see what you get, and try using a non-British pre-SYW 4 line organisation while you're at it.

Another option for those who want the thin lines approach for SP in 15mm...

2 infantry beside each other on a 2cm x 1.5cm deep base. 8 bases in 2 ranks on a thin card or metal sheet measures 8x3cm.
2-3 of these groups = a half company; 4-6 = a company.

Light infantry could be on slightly wider bases with fewer figures; 6 bases would have a similar or slightly wider frontage than close order foot.

Cavalry could be on 3x3cm bases, mounted in pairs.
