American war of independence

I was wondering how would you play a unit like Fergison's rifles for example? Not only rifles but they were breach loaders and I believe they were regular British or were they loyalist troops?

No, you're right - the 1777 unit was composed of Regulars (chosen men from various regiments); they are often confused with the Loyalist light battalion (again, composed of chosen men from four regiments) that Ferguson commanded at King's Mountain, but they are not thought to have been armed with his rifle.

In terms of playing the rifle unit, the breech mechanism would speed up loading - at least until the screw fouled - so I would say, for the purposes of the type of action being fought in SP2, allow them only one "move" to re-load, rather than the two of other rifles. I would add one point to the usual cost of a rifleman to reflect this.
No plan survives first contact with the dice.
