Eastern Front WW1

Post by joe.harrison89 »

I'm interested in the scale of these rules and being able to command battalions. I have 12mm Russian, Austrians and Germans that I don't have rules for and thought these might fit the bill despite being set in a different theatre of operation.
I have read an AAR report from 2015 from Rich and Nick and it's sounded pretty good although Rich commented that the rules are quite old now and might need some changes.

Based on that is it worth picking up the rules and the ww1 compendium book?

We have used “If the Lord Spares Us” on numerous occasions to fight both Russian Civil War and Soviet-Polish War actions without any problems. We also use them for fights in East Africa using the amendments in an article in the WW1 Compendium. I have also used for battalion actions on the Western Front in 1914. We always have thoroughly enjoyable games.

They are older rules and not as clearly written as later rules from TFL so need a bit of interpretation but are well worth persevering with. I recommend them highly.
