Dux Britanniarum

Post by Chris68 » Sat Mar 26, 2016 4:20 pm

This has caught my eye

I like the period, the 28mm scale, the campaign.

I was watching the video on Youtube but it doesn't look like part 2 was made.

Thinking of buying the game but I was wondering if there was a new edition coming out any time soon. I've no idea when the current Dux Brit was made.

Also, I read a review that mentioned a Church, is that the Christian Church? I didn't think Christianity was that established during this period. I'm probably wrong though

The part 2 video was never made.

No new edition on the horizon, but there's the Raiders supplement and a Dux Britannarium Compendium will be coming soon. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3512

Christianity was well established in Britain by the time period covered by Dux.

It's Close call with CoC but Dux is probably my favourite wargame ever.

Straight win for Dux for me, which may explain WHY I'm the mad fool working on the compendium.

Re Christianity in Britain, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_o ... tain#Celts is a good summary.

I may have a shot at some videos with Andy once the Compendium is done.

Dux is an excellent game and the Raiders supplement extends its scope to include Pictish, Irish and Scotti Raiders plus suggestions for more multi-player campaigns.
There are also some interesting articles in the TFL Specials including one adapting the system for the era of the Viking raids on Britain and another called "Seven Spears" which extend the rules to classic Samurai Japan. Plenty of ideas there.

Thanks all for the info

How much does the Christian Church feature in the game?

For the non-Christian forces the church provides a source of loot, one of the scenarios is a raid on a church.

The British defeend the church against attack by heathens and on occasion may pray for divine aid. Sometimes they get it. As a British Lord progresses through the campaign he may gain a Bishop, or even a Saint, as part of his retinue.

Also in the pre battle phase you may consult the Gods (be you Saxon or British) which basically has a morale effect on your faction, and may (if you have a priest and roll a 6) confer a minor miracle.

I signed up just to post that I too hope this sees a hard copy print. I just discovered this rule set and feel like I have been missing out for years.
