Revised Dux QRS

Post by AronBC » Wed Oct 21, 2015 4:46 pm

Our club here in California has be on again - off again with Dux this past year. As it can be months between games we have worked up a new quick reference to aid our failing memories.

Would be happy to have any comments or revisions.

I would love to look at your QRS, but I am not keen on downloading it from a site which I have to register for.

Sorry didn't realize you needed to register with BGG to access the files. Have just cross posted this the the TFL Yahoo Group. Failing that you can message me with your email address and I'll send it over that way.

Thanks for that. A useful playsheet on two sides of A4. A few comments.

I'd put the all the rules for shieldwall movement in the shieldwall box as well as the movement one (you have some there already, but not all)

The Scotti Commanded Skirmishers are Harrassing troops that may remove shock, I'd change appropriate line to - Harassing troops/light cavalry never rally shock (except Scotti Commanded Skirmishers)

I'm not at all clear what the line "Play one fate card, suit cards Nobles only" under Command and Control means. It doesn't cost any initiative points to play fate cards.

"Once per turn purchase one, and only one, fate card" would probably be better as "Buy a single fate card immediately a Noble is activated". And I'd put it right at the top of the list in Command and Control.

You have left blanks in places where you haven't put numbers for Raiders (Excess Shock ,Effect of missile hits) In both these cases Raiders are treated the same as Warriors. It would give you more space of you put Warrior/Raider where appropriate, as you have already done for the effect of skirmisher fire.

You might want to put Elite/Noble Raider where appropriate. (Excess Shock,Effect of missile hits)

You are inconsistent with your use of singular or plural for Levy, Warrior(s), Raider(s), Missile(s) etc etc I'd suggest using use singular or plural consistently. Mind you Rich did this in the original playsheets too.

Your Melee Combat Results section says "draw fight immediate 2nd round" should be "draw or sides remain in contact fight immediate 2nd round".

Hope this helps. There's an echo between the Forum and the Yahoo Group :D

This is very useful Aron, thanks for doing this.

I thought you had made an error in the definition of a linear obstacle which refers to a 48" hedge giving me a vision of a 4' high fence being placed on the table. However, I now realise that and the reference to 36" deep streams were included by Rich in the original rules. I've now worked out what he means but it does read oddly.

Thanks for the comments Derek. I have made a few adjustments but will wait until November to publish an update on the off chance others have additional insights.

If anyone would like the latest draft message me with your e-mail and I'll pass it along.

Would you mind if I put a copy in the folder on Dropbox which I use to share other Lardy files such as draft CoC force lists. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eu6yxhtvr56n ... H9lfa?dl=0

That would allow people to get it without creating an account at either Yahoo Groups or BGG.

Still a couple of mistakes.

In the melee Hit Effect Table you have the symbol indicating thet Raiders are classed as warriors and also a line (correct) for Raiders.

In those footnotes where you find out what the croses mean you've misspelt Noble as Nobel.

Melee Combat results has "retrain" rather than retain.

"Missle Combat" rather than Missile Combat in table.
