basing for Q13

Post by andy_cole » Wed Feb 19, 2014 4:06 pm

A quick question as a follow up to my other thread regarding Q13 and AQOMF, (i haven't bought a copy of the rules yet)
I wondered what basing conventions were used for Q13, I'm just starting on my first batch of black hat British.
Cheers guys. :?:

Anything you like, provided shock and casualties can be shown.

My various armies are based individually, in twos, in threes even.

Well as Rob said "Anything you like" So blutac a few figures to different bases to see what floats your boat. :)

For my 15mm I base two or three figures on bases I have cut from plastic card (for example two figures would go on a base that I have cut to 20mmx20mm) and for my big men I use pennies for individuals or a two pence piece if I want a to give my big man a lackey or similar.

My regular opponent sticks four to five figures on a Flames of War base and pennies again for his big men.
Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts.

I base normal sized individual 15mm figures on 5p pieces, bigger ones on 1p pieces and twos or huge figures on 2p pieces. Otherwise I use pre-cut bases from all sorts of manufacturers: whatever fits what I want to do with the figures.

If you go to www.vislardica.com, you can see quite a lot of info about Q13. Battle reports and more. But it's a company sized game, so IABSM or CDS in space.

I am using washers of any size, just as the miniature's plinth requires. They are thin and heavy and I can fix them on a magnetic sheet for transport. For special sizes and shapes I cut ferrous metal sheet to shape

I use 40mm x 20mm bases for 5 6mm figures and base my big men and support weapons on round 20mm bases. Vehicles and beyond are based on round 40mm+ bases depending on requirements. Just finished basing the my first Quar companies in 6mm for use with Q13.
