I am considering getting the books by Pat Smith called Setting the Scene. Has anyone done a review. Between the books and the shipping to the US they would be expensive. So I just want to explore their worth before I plunk down the cash! Thanks.

Re: SETTING THE SCENE
I have both, and both are fantastic.
EDIT: A little more detail - the books are an excellent reference, and really go into step-by-step detail for how to build and paint a variety of different terrain features. The techniques are easy to replicate and produce a great effect on the table. Clear illustration photos and well-written instructions make things really easy to follow. I used the techniques in the second volume for a Sicily table, making both vineyards and flexible roads - and both turned out great!
I highly recommend both books, even if just for inspiration.

Re: SETTING THE SCENE
Got the new one, what I hadn’t realised is the main thrust is about creating your own mats, which is a massive bonus.
Re: SETTING THE SCENE
I got the Mediterranean one for Xmas. Fantastic book full of ideas, techniques and even tells you where to buy materials (mostly Screwfix and William)
Re: SETTING THE SCENE
