Figures?...
Equipment?...
Terrain?...
...or is it the action?
Do you game what happens, or what it looks like?
What are you modelling?

Re: What are you modelling?
Actually ..... I am currently putting together a Blood Bowl team for a tournament in July (I'm running a Halfling team called Munchiestar United, aka "The Fed Devils").
But as I'm doing that project (which won't take long at all), I'm also collecting the figures for a French platoon which I am hoping to field at the Early War Lardfest at Cancon 2020 (annually held in late January, in Canberra), with my commander (quite obviously) to be Lieutenant Hulot.

Re: What are you modelling?
Vague subject, so apologies.
What I'm interested in discussing is what is being modelled on our tabletops.
Is it the action or the pieces/parts?

Re: What are you modelling?
¿Por que no los dos? I enjoy the painting and modeling aspect of the hobby (and enjoy making both figures and terrain), but the action/game-play is also very important to me. I like games that present me with difficult and meaningful tactical choices, and if those meaningful and difficult tactical choices also happen to be represented by beautiful minis and terrain, so much the better!
Re: What are you modelling?
I much prefer to have a nice table with appropriate miniatures. Abstracting to tokens or similar in a game takes away most of the enjoyment for me.
In terms of learning a set of rules before miniatures are purchased or ready I don't mind some stand-ins to let me try things out though.

Re: What are you modelling?
Both the figures and the terrain. Any items needed to keep track of the situation should look like part of the terrain too or so hard to see that one has to know where to look. Absolutely refuse to play with unpainted and unterrained bases but stop short of not using British troops with Belgic shakoes in the Peninsula or of using Austrians as Spanish if caught short

Re: What are you modelling?
I somehow imagined the table differently
