Chain of Command DMZ

Post by B. Wren »

Hello all. Away from my Libya based fun, I've been tinkering with a Vietnam mod I found for CoC. Here are the results of my first scrap. A US patrol jumped on by VC Local force guerillas. Due to my not yet having painted enough VC, it was a US victory.

Looks fantastic.Particularly impressed with your choice of figures, as you will see from my own posts somewhere lower down the page.

Those shirtless guys really do set a bad example...

Cheers! Yes, I like the proportions and relative cheapness of the 1/72 stuff. Haven't tried converting any yet. Might do some VC in holes in the ground.

I like your AFVs. And there I was two months ago thinking, Vietnam doesn't need to be more than a platoon (I'm at company strength for WW2, to my horror) ...

I've been having a great time reading Robert Mason's Chickenhawk, a Huey helicopter pilot memoir, and as the prototype patrols get dropped off by chopper I'm considering incorporating some 'slicks' in a hot LZ/extraction situation. The choppers being airborne would I suppose not have to worry about those nasty variable line of sight terrain rules. There again a hit from a VC rocket could take out a whole squad in one go.

How did you like the DMZ version of the rules? I have lots of Vietnam figures but have yet to try it.

I'm waiting for my son to paint up his Viet Minh so we can have a bash using DMZ - my 6BPC platoon (section) is ready and waiting.
