Hi we are looking forward to these rules and currently collecting forces for North Africa to build on the armor we have for What a Tanker. I’m wondering if someone could help me figure out how an unusual force like the German motorized machine gun battalions at Tobruk 1941 would be based up? From what I can tell each company had 12 HMGs organized into two or three platoons and not much else but 3 light mortars and 3 anti tank rifles. Not sure how to best handle this in terms of what to put on the table. I understand it may not matter much what’s actually on the bases, but it’s fun to make these things look right too. Thanks much!

So looks like a normal shutzen battalion with added MMG?
So in O Group you add a nominal MMG to an infantry platoon, not sire how you indicate that tho need to go back and rewatch the video

Players can attach MMGs to infantry platoons or deploy as stand alone SF weapons.

Thank you all. Maybe I'm all mixed up, but what I'm looking at seems like it should be significantly different from a schutzen battalion. The 2nd and the 8th MG Battalions appear to have been composed of several HMG's, not LMG's, they're more like a heavy company. Anyway, I think the best thing to do is point to the doc here: http://downloads.sturmpanzer.com/NARA_R ... 1_89.2.pdf. What I'm looking at is on page 194 of the pdf.

Basically, it looks to me like a schutzen platoon has around 18 LMGs, 2 HMGs, and 3 light mortars. A platoon in an MG Company appears to have just been 4 HMGs, 3 light mortars, and 3 anti tank rifles. Plus crews for all these guns of course.

Anyway, really appreciate all the help.

TT,

Yes, an attached MMG section is on-table and stays with its platoon for the game.

Hi guys. Could we have a release date, please? X-Mas is here and still no news. Hope you're all doing good. Take care.
