Effect of unbuttoned

Post by dirk bracke »

Hi all,
What is the consequence of being unbuttoned? Being buttoned-up gets a -1 (too little?) to spotting but that is the only thing we could find about it.
cheers

Hi Dirk,
That’s the only thing I can see mentioned. However, if the AFV commander is not buttoned up then he is not invulnerable to enemy small arms fire and should be a potential target for a sniper in my view.

Hi John,
Agreed. But that should also be the case for the guys manning the machineguns in an M113. They should get a solid cover bonus but also be liable to normal small arms fire.
A pity that this is the nth case of things not covered in the rules.
cheers

Hi Dirk,
The CDS rules are a toolbox you need to adapt to the game you want to play and the circumstances on the tabletop.

7.16 simply says that troops firing small arms cannot damage troops inside an AFV. So if they are manning weapons they are not inside so can be shot at would be my view.
