Crisis Point 2021 - A Sharp Practice Weekend

Post by Counterpane »

Hi all!

Crisis Point is a wargaming weekend that takes place every Spring on the edge of the Peak District near Sheffield. In 2021 Crisis Point will be a Sharp Practice 2 campaign weekend set in the Indian Ocean at the time of the War of the Spanish Succession. Players will command forces attached to the British and French East India Companies, followers of the local Arab traders/slavers/pirates, or the natives of the fictional Woebetide Islands.

Assuming things are back to normal with Covid-19 under some degree of control, the event will take place on the 27th and 28th of March 2021.

There are a few places still up for grabs at the event. If you're interested, please PM me with your email address and I'll send you the campaign guide with includes the historical background, the unit stats, and some proposed unit organisations.

Cheers,

Richard

Crisis Point 2021 should be at the end of March. What's the general view hereabouts as to whether we could put on a 20-person event in Yorkshire in that kind of timescale?

I suspect the honest answer is 'we don't know'! As we have seen local lockdowns can be imposed at short notice, and the only certaintity is that Covid will be around for a long time yet...

York has already cancelled Vapnartak and tbh I suspect there won't be much happening in the first half of 2021.
Remember also, whatever venue you use will have to allow for deep cleaning afterwards, before reverting back to it's usual operations...

We're now working towards a provisional date of the weekend of 17th and 18th April 2021. I'm building and painting stuff on the assumption that we'll go ahead that weekend but we'll have to wait and see.

Re: Crisis Point - A Sharp Practice Weekend, 18th and 19th September 2021

Post by Counterpane »

As far as any of us can tell, Crisis Point 2021 is going ahead on the 18th and 19th September 2021!

We'll be playing a single, huge Sharp Practice game spread over three tables with forces from the War of the Spanish Succession period translated to the Indian Ocean. Look out for opportunities to escort diplomatic missions, mount anti-piracy operations, land or extract spies, and cut-out enemy vessels.

There are still spaces for players and you don't need to bring any toys - we have suitable forces still looking for leaders.

The event takes place in Dungworth, near Sheffield, on the edge of the Peak District. There's bed and breakfast accommodation available in the village.

If anyone's interested, please PM me for details.

We started the table set up this evening. The main table is mostly done.
