Marksman and Bonuses

If a marksman is part of a unit of LIght Infantry, such as a group of British Rifles, does he add the +1 for being Light Infantry and the +1 for first fire? If not, the regular Riflemen have a greater chance of hitting at up to 24" with first fire.

Re: Confusion mwith Fistcuffs

I agree with that assessment, sjwalker, which is why I wondered about adding on additional penalties since artillery crew are already treated as militia and wallahs which reflects their lack of training.

Re: Confusion mwith Fistcuffs

What is the thinking behind unloaded and no bayonets for artillery crew? As far as I can recall most nations’ foot artillery carried muskets, cartridge boxes, and bayonets. I remember that Napoleonic French foot artillery had the sabre briquet/bayonet on a crossbelt and British at least the bayonet ...

Basing 1813 Prussians

I am planning on doing 18mm Prussians from the Fall of 1813. The battalions, at least at the start of the campaign, were quite large, often around 750-900 or more men. For the large battalions I am planning on using 32 or 40 figures. I have a question, though, about basing them. For a 32 figure batt...

Re: Core List/Sharpulator Contradictions

Thanks, Captain Reid. I didn't catch that in the list the characteristics were simply added rather than using the chart to adjust the basic value. I agree that the elite rating is quite high -- might have saved that for the short-lived Polish Guard (combined grenadier) battalion of late 1813. In the...

Re: Core List/Sharpulator Contradictions

Captain Reid -- I agree with you that consistency is the way to go with respect to the use of the +1 per 3 bands in the list. I must admit that I am sometimes flummoxed by the lists and so the using the Sharpulator and the bands to bring in a degree of uniformity to the lists. For example, I was anx...

Re: Core List/Sharpulator Contradictions

Thanks, Captain Reid. That is my thought as well -- the Carabiniers would then cost 9 points not 8. I guess I am trying to divine Rich's intent based on the newer lists which, at least in this one case, seems to take the literal interpretation of a simple 10+. But the bands seem a logical progressio...

Number of Command Cards

Can the number of command cards in a game be different for the two sides? For example, in an Indian Mutiny game, the British player selects a British Regulars force for 68 points which has 7 groups so per p. 26 that player would get the standard four cards. The Mutineer chooses a Sepoys (June to Aug...

Re: Core List/Sharpulator Contradictions

I wonder if there is any consensus about adding an additional +1 for bands of three (so 10-12 at +2 for line and 13-15 at +3, etc.)? I was looking at the French 1805-1807 list and Legere Carabiniers are 8 points in the list. As I went through the Sharpulator I see that they are a List 6 choice (elit...
