Re-Fight of the Battle of Bailen

It took a long time to get the required troops painted up - Garde de Paris and loads of Spanish, but I finally got to re-fight the Battle of Bailen. The re-fight assumes that Dupont concentrated his army before attacking the Spanish left and centre instead of the historical piecemeal attacks as each...

Re: Defending Support Unit

Thanks for responding, dakkadakka.

A good idea for allowing the option for the support to be re-directed - of course, presuming the support battalion is led by a 'Sharpe' commander.

Defending Support Unit

Hi, A situation came up where three battalions from the same brigade are in a line - A, B and C. The enemy declares charges on battalions A and C. The charges are resolved simultaneously. B is within flank supporting distance of both A and C and MUST provide support to a defending target. My assumpt...

Vitoria Scenario Book - skirmishes bases

Hi, I’m looking forward to playing theses scenarios - now that I have it in my electronic hands. I just have a couple of very minor questions. 1j Skirmisher bases are listed for each brigade, which is great, but sometimes the number are in accordance with the rules and sometimes not. For example: Re...

Re: Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

Thanks, zabarr. Yes, "Waterloo, the French Perspective" is a fantastic book as are Andrew Field's other books on the campaign - especially "Waterloo: Rout and Retreat" as this is usually covered in a paragraph or two in other books. Now, if there are any historians out there that are interested in c...

Re: Number of brigade skirmishers stands for Reservists Battalions.

To add to that, when reinforcing the skirmish line via a Skirmisher's Tasking, the reservist battalion wouldn't lose the base for "recruit" unless at 4+ casualties.

Re: Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

I’m a pretty easy going reviewer. As long as I think the author has put in a decent effort I’ll give them credit. However, if the author makes claims that are out of the ordinary then a closer and more critical examination is warranted. Such is the case with Paul Dawson’s book, Waterloo: The Truth a...
