Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

But that's not remotely accurate. IRL, the 8 LMGs maneuvered on foot over open ground, subject to arty and Maxim fire, just like the rest of the country's infantry did. And 251s that wandered too close to the front line became excellent light-skinned targets for ATGs and other big guns. PGs did far ...

Re: Hedges, orchards and los.

Normandy Hedgerows? No, the troop has to be dismounted and on it, seeing past the other side of one hedgerow into another was nigh on impossible. The banks and tops were overgrown with vegetation, picking out targets on the opposite berm was hard enough. Picking out humans on the next berm? Good luc...

Re: Fire from open-topped vehicles

That's not the way 251s were used. They're more taxi-like, getting the troops within shouting distance but keeping out of ATG trouble. As a GM I'd disallow it altogether.

YMMV, but "play the period and not the rules" means something. :-)

Re: Elite support in Von Luck campaign

But, excuse me if I'm wrong, but that's the point of TFL rules: play the period. Fark a bunch of point lists, they're intensely useless when replaying historical fights. Balance is a myth, from June of 1944 in the West and August of 1943 in the East there wasn't anything that even remotely resembled...

Re: Elite support in Von Luck campaign

Maybe not every para unit is elite? Maybe elite gets used too much while the actual bulk of the troops were "just good enough"? Maybe by '44 the number of "elite" German units weren't all that standard, filled with fillers from where ever they were available? FJ units fought in Italy in '44. Most co...

Re: British Late War Infantry Win:Loss Ratio?

Thanks for the comments and feedback all. My one big takeaway from this is "Smoke" and that perhaps our Brit players need to have a look at their tactics. Cheers Ben Ya think? :D :D The Brits didn't lose that much, using their actual tactics will probably help. :D :D TFL rules reward proper time pe...

Re: TWT 15mm?

Halving the ranges sounds fine. I didn't change anything for my 20mm and didn't feel it affected anything at all adversely.

Re: Solo Game Play

I plot out a scenario, give each side achievable goals. Supports get put on the table as I see fit, and what makes sense in the scenario. Under no circumstance do I follow points listings, I have an irrational hatred of the things. For entertainment purposes with other TFL rules, I do up the blinds,...

Re: Any thoughts on multiple phases ?

That's some serious dice rolling. I haven't seen that, ever, and only heard about it from you.

Hard one to call.
