Unit frontage and depth

I’m curious, what frontage and depth do you use for your units? I’d love to hear how everyone here bases their infantry, cav, and arty. The instructions in the book are great, but are based on per mini, I’m curious about what y’all use for total frontage and depth, mainly for standard sized units. T...

Re: Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

Fantastic review ShadowDragon, you clearly know your stuff. Waterloo, the French Perspective is a fantastic book for those interested in the matter. Great analysis into the decision making process itself.

Re: Brigade Command Level

I can’t actually say, I have yet to play a game! Still in the process of painting. Having read the rulebook, I’m optimistic. Back in the day when I played empire, though it’s divisional level, different formations were forbidden from mixing to prevent ahistorically effective teamwork between infantr...

Re: Brigade Command Level

At this scale, too much flexibility doesn’t fit the period. One of the challenges rulesets face without formation limits or distinctions is that you then get some seriously unrealistic combined arms coordination. When infantry, cavalry, and artillery are able to work too well together the game becom...

Re: 6mm Basing

100% agree. There's no point doing 6mm and going light on the infantry. The more the merrier!

Re: 6mm Basing

Since you have to base individually with Adler anyways you'll have a bit more flexibility. Personally I'm a fan of the Baccus style, but I was surprised to find that the strip sizes aren't all uniform. As of last year, all newly sculpted Baccus is 20mm, but for previously sculpted models, specifical...

Re: 6mm Basing

As it stands I'm leaning towards using 3 40x20mm bases per infantry unit, with 4 strips of Baccus 20mm per base, for a total of 48 minis per standard battalion. The cavalry however is a conundrum. I'd prefer not to use movement bases, and I'd also prefer not to have too many bases to move. Decisions...
