...and then you'll go to that next big convention in November, see something new and shiny and all those good intentions will fly out of the window!

Re: COCing Sharp Practice?

That's an interesting point you make EvilGinger (or may I just call you Evil? :) ) The original SP has quite a lengthy chapter on how different nations organised and manoeuvered their companies though I'm not sure how many of us read, or regularly use it in our games, to be honest! It's something th...

Success of the Forum?

I see membership is now over 350 members, larger than the majority of forums out there, but that's still less than 10% of the Yahoo Group membership - is the sign-up what you expected and does it represent the majority of the core membership (the most active) of the Yahoo Group? I'm finding it a lot...

Re: COCing Mud & the Blood?

Really interesting discussion - I've now posted the same question on the SP board as well, as we're experimenting with the same idea for the Indian Mutiny supplement - replacing the action card deck with command dice and adopting the patrol phase as a substitute for the early game use of Blinds and ...

COCing Sharp Practice?

An interesting thread on the M&B sub-group about the pros and cons of adapting M&B to include COC mechanisms, such as the patrol phase and replacing the Action Card deck with command dice. What would you think about a similar 'updating' of Sharp Practice? We're about to start playtesting the idea as...

By then he'll have released the Sikh Wars sourcebook and you'll want to add a whole pile of stuff to the lead pile for that as well!

Just to warn you, the group has now been "Neo-ed". All sorts of problems today trying to access various functions but that may just be because I'm a complete Luddite of a moderator!

Re: So Far From God variant. Anyone tried it?

I'm still hopeful that TVAG will release their MAW-specific ruleset called "Gone To See The Elephant" which has been at the playtest stage for about 4 years now.

Re: SP Question: Minimum size of group

I use groups of 4 for large units of irregular Indian cavalry or infantry levies in my Indian Mutiny games. 6 groups of 4, with only a few low status Big Men to lead them, are almost impossible to keep in any formation, very brittle in combat and tend to run away quite quickly - which seems to model...

Re: So Far From God variant. Anyone tried it?

Hi Brian That sounds familiar. I bought a load of 18mm Eureka figures for the MAW. I experimented with the F&F variant rules for MAW, which were OK but I didn't feel they really captured the character of the period somehow - it just felt like an ACW game with prettier uniforms. I then bought SFFG, t...
