Re: 1/72 French minis for 1940 campaign — recommendations?

contrarius, I’ve not got any of the Lancer French (yet!) but the Brits I have are quite compatible with Blitz, probably a bit ‘chunkier’ but I’m not so worried about minor differences in size/bulk.

Again, don’t know whether they will be large enough for you, but both Battlefield Miniatures (in their Blitz Range) and Lancer Miniatures offer 20mm French 1940 figures.

Re: French Dromedary Corps - Egypt

As John suggests, better to treat them as Dismounted infantry from the start of the game and just use the camels as part of the deployment point. If you really want to treat them more like Dragoons, able to move mounted on the table, they should be severely penalised in Fisticuffs if caught mounted ...

Re: Just started playing Sharp Practice

Mfarl, Agree with you on the change to BTH for the Natives. Need to give some thoughts on how to represent Counting Coup though my understanding is that it was much less prevalent during the 1870’s, as the Natives’ attitude towards warfare changed in response to that of the US forces? Why do you sug...

Re: SP “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” time

Baron, Munin, much appreciated - wherever possible I want to make any rule tweaks consistent with existing TFL mechanisms and these definitely are. You may have seen my suggestions for ‘Skirmish Trained’ as a new unit characteristic for Line Infantry during the 1865-95 period, in my article in the 2...

Re: SP “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” time

Interesting thought, Captain Reid. On reflection, I think allowing most infantry and dismounted cavalry to be treated as Skirmish Troops will, with a few tweaks, adequately reflect the tactics and use of cover you describe. I’ve already drafted some rules for MGs (published in the 2019 Special) and ...

SP “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon” time

Prompted by another post over here , for my next project I’m now tempted to work up some rule adaptions to cover the American Plains Wars of the 1860-70’s. For once, I’ve already got the books and toys for the period, it’s a logical next step following my ‘Special’ articles on the Ohio Indians and R...

Re: Fisticuffs in Terrible Sharp Sword

As mentioned by mugginns, TSS is really only useful for inspiration these days - the rule modifications only apply to SP1 and have been completely superseded by the current rule set.

Re: Just started playing Sharp Practice

Great minds think alike - the scenarios in those 2 publications translate to SP very well. There were some rule adaptions for the Plains Wars published in one of the Specials some time ago but they were written for SP v.1. I must dig them out and see how they might be updated for the current version...
