Re: Standard Units and Scale

John Thanks for the reply and suggestions. Knowing what is what is not an issue as I use a simple tab and dab-it system that has ID's fixed to each unit with a code for quality and size. Marker pen dots are added as casualties accrue and these are boxed at significant points to make the dispersal/mo...

Standard Units and Scale

I have some concerns on basing and scale in GdA that come from how I see the ‘feel’ of a tabletop representation game like this should, or could be. This is a rather long post but please bear with me, I would welcome some opinions on how other players feel about this. I like my battles as historical...

Re: Cavalry Counter-Charge

Puzzling over this one: Charge Table has this to say WINNING SUPPORTS Stand, or if melee result, close to melee if target can be reached. LOSING SUPPORTS: Retire if Lead Unit Retires/Retreats/Routed. Otherwise Stand. So I suppose a 1,2 win for charger is a stand for the defender (possibly reinforce ...

Re: Causulty dice

Jim The Grande Battery was surely an awesome weapon of the time. I see no problem with the firepower it can unleash. You are worried it can be too powerful but consider the downsides and ways that this can be countered... It is a pretty fixed behemoth of a unit and you do not want to start throwing ...

Faltering support

A small ambiguity in my mind... In prohibited supports against a charge h. pg. 43 states: Faltering brigades cannot commit supports. Exception: If you have one attacker directly charging two adjacent defending units from a Faltering brigade, then one defending unit is automatically drawn into the co...

Re: Charge or Opportunity Charge

Thanks Dave
An unlikely situation indeed. As my dice throwing ability attests however the likely never happens when you want it to.

Re: Charge or Opportunity Charge

Option 2 Cavalry unit B2 declares a charge on A1. As all of sides A charges are conducted first. A1 will conduct its charge on B1. This could result in a melee with A1 moving into contract with B1 ready for the melee phase. Now we come to side B's charges. Assuming B2 can still see A1 is there any ...

Re: Overlapping support during a charge

Thanks John Yes the wheeling is not allowed I see that, although in this case the Lancers are not wheeling. I think what you are inferring however is that where it says on Page 49.14 "Flank supports will only close to Melee only if they can actually reach and contact the lead defending unit..." It m...

Overlapping support during a charge

If 3 squadrons of French Chasseurs with 2 squadrons of Lancers in support charged 3 squadrons of british dragoons and the charge went to Melee. https://flic.kr/p/WMwpgu] Could the Lancers take the extra charge left over and o...

Re: Massed column charge to melee

Thanks Dave very clear now.....so if I was to be more sensible with an echeloned and supported attack.... ....and the result was Melee 1) Would both supports go in as well? 2) If all 3 then ...cou...
