Re: Early war Gebirgsjager platoon

Was the panzerbuchse 38/39 anti-tank rifle used by the gbirgsjaegers in 1940-41. On one hand, I can see HQ noting that in theory the mountain troops would not be operating in tank country. On the other hand, in real--life the gebirgsjaegers fought in flat country so one might have been useful.

Re: Domain of Soissons and Merovingian Franks

Whoops. Forgot the quote: "Under Goar, they allied with the Burgundians led by Gundaharius, with whom they installed the usurping Emperor Jovinus. Under Goar's successor Sangiban, the Alans of Orléans played a critical role in repelling the invasion of Attila the Hun at the Battle of Châlons. In 463...

Re: Domain of Soissons and Merovingian Franks

The following is from Wikipedia. It corresponds to my recollection that the Alans were allied with Aetius at the Battle of Chalons and implies that it was more likely that there would be Alan mercs than Hun. Anyway, my 2 tuppence.

Re: Domain of Soissons and Merovingian Franks

I would offer the suggestion of including the Alans (at least on a limited basis). They're not Huns while being decent horse archers.

Re: The Dux Britanniarum Compendium

I eagerly await the Compendium. I hope it will include maps for campaigning in Neustria in the 9th century and for Viking invasions of Ireland.

Re: Duxulator

A couple of months ago I decided to leap into Dux except that I wanted to game the Carolingians vs. the Vikings. A request to this forum yielded the URL for the Facebook page devoted to Dux https://www.facebook.com/groups/duxbritanniarum/files/ It is complete including cards. ALso the Christmas 2012...

Re: Commando JOP ideas

If I were doing this, I'd be thinking of Lord Lovat and his commandos relieving Major Howard at Pegasus Bridge. So I would include a piece of airborne gear-cargo trailer, cargo canisters etc from 1st Corps.

Re: Hanomag Support Values

Pardon the ignorant question.... Where can I find the current version of the Consolidated Arsenal. And FWIW I've worked up some 1930's French armored cars for the Arsenal if anyone is interested.

Re: Commando List

Interested in the Commandos in Tunisia in 1943. Does anyone make either a 2" mortar with crew or a Boys anti-tank rifle. TIA

Re: Recommended Required Reading

Take a look at *Tank-Fighter Team* by "Robert Gerard"-a pen name. The author, a Frenchman, was studying in the U.S. in 1939 and returned to France. He went to Cavalry School and was posted as second-in-command to a Groupe Franc. The book recalls his experience as his unit fought itself to exhaustion...
