Re: Germans for Kursk PSC (Recommendations)

Gibby - try The Assault Group Germans - very nice. You could mix in some of the Empress ones with them. The Empress casts are gorgeous but really intended for late war Bulge type scenarios. Still, a good many of them are in cammo tunics and could be used for mid-war Ostfront. A word of warning on Bl...

Post-Martlet game puzzlers

Evening all, a furious battle for Rauray (Martlet campaign, Table 6) between myself and gcoops has been paused while I rally my depleted Brits for one last push. Your collective advice would be appreciated on a few points ... 1. We've had an ongoing shooting match between the first floor of two neig...

Patrol Markers

Like many a CoC player I occasionally get a pang of 'am I doing this right?' or indeed 'could I be doing this better?' And I've recently been thinking about the patrol phase... 1. When offered a choice of 3 or 4 patrol markers I usually chose 4, but I started to wonder why! What are the pros and con...

Re: Turning Off 2" Mortar Smoke

I'm with TT and Captain Martin I think. There should be some time limit on 2" smoke bombs.

Re: Martlet / At Sharp End Query

Thank you very much Seret and Steve - very useful to have your guidance. Looks like the Jocks must prevail then! I must say I can understand why ATSE gives the option of counter-attack to the successful defender but I can't really see why the side thrown back on the defensive shouldn't have the adva...

Re: Turning Off 2" Mortar Smoke

TT - Thanks very much for the clarification from rule 10.3.4, I had missed that. That 2" mortar is a pretty amazing thing though isn't it? As bob696 has suggested, you could just pick a whole series of aiming points and create quite a substantial smokescreen if the rounds just keep on burning on ;) ...

Re: Turning Off 2" Mortar Smoke

Thanks Munin - we did indeed play it that way. But when it comes to smoke from the off table battery it can be turned off, rule 10.3.2 noting "the player can only end the barrage when the battery is activated, it will then continue to fire for that Phase and then cease. Any smoke or explosions will ...

Martlet / At Sharp End Query

Our Martlet campaign has progressed to the final table, Last Ditch at Rauray, after the German player voluntarily threw in the towel on Table 5 (Winning Your Spurs). First question: if a player decides to end a game like that, simply by deciding to withdraw, does that count as 'hasty withdrawal' (p3...
