Re: To Covet Glory
I bought this as soon as you said it was available on Wargames Vault. It's a fine piece of work, and I'm not saying that just because you name checked me in it!

Re: KMH2
Rich H, In fairness to the rules, they are some of the oldest TFL rules still in print, I think. They probably are a little disjointed; Rich and Nick have learned a LOT about writing rules since these came out. There are (or used to be) some playsheets and stuff, either here or in the yahoo forum, t...

15mm PBR comparison
After a month long slump, there is a new post up on my blog. On the "Other Gaming Items: Vietnam" page, I have posted a look at the currently available 15mm Patrol Boat River kits. As always, please drop by and comments are appreciated.

Re: KMH2
I'd like that too, but I'm afraid it's a pretty tall order. You need a lot more data on ship systems and whatnot for a lower level game. For instance, if I'm a fleet commander I'm not concerned about whether or not one of my ships has lost a yard. If I'm a ship captain, that could be critical. That'...

Re: KMH2
Is that a cop out? Yeah, little bit. However, restricting the use of a held fire card to either/or where opponent movement is concerned would make the game move a bit faster. It prevents all the "how far did I move" stuff after the firing is done. I'm going to try it for the next ga...

Re: KMH2
I had not seen that, and I appreciate you providing the link. Clearly my interpretation of when the card could be used was all wrong. The next time we play KMH, I will institute that rule. I expect much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but as Nick says in the FAQ, "tough cheese."

Re: KMH2
John, OK, you made me think that maybe I was remembering it incorrectly. So, I went and got the rules out and looked. This is what my 2003 copyright rules say: 5.1. Holding back of cards Players may hold back their firing card to be playe at a later point in the turn if desired. Cards may not be car...

Re: KMH2
Monty, I don't know that I agree with you about ditching the fire card. One of the things that players seem to enjoy when the fight starts is the interplay of movement versus firing cards. Which one is coming up first? To me, that handles the loading time questions that other naval games have. Do I ...

Re: KMH2
Nick, I agree with John about streamlining the Strike Test, and the percentages idea sounds like it might be a good way to do it. I've tried the command and control rules in the Special, and they go a long ways towards imposing some order on players. I've played some scenarios (before the C&C ru...

Re: British Fleet Now On the Blog
Thanks guys. As I said elsewhere, I looked at those photos and saw bent masts, saggy rigging and all the other signs that indicate years of hard service. Some of them have 20+ years of service on them. As for fighting as well as they look... well, let's just say they've seen their share of victories...
