Re: Points and balancing

Absolute pleasure sir... Youtube is an incredible resource nowadays for military history and there are many presenters who are excellent in their field, if you are not a big reader of the highly detailed histories that one can get about the Eastern Front nowadays (e.g Glantz) The Chieftain is brilli...

Re: Points and balancing

Thanks for that Sincilbanks. Really informative. I've just become accustomed to what I read years ago about the fearsome T-34 with its very decent gun and sloped armour that German shells deflected off. That and the nasty KV-1 and 2 beasts of war. But mostly it was the T-34, especially the T-34/85....

Re: Points and balancing

I always thought Russian tanks, especially those from 1941-on were rather good, and more than a match for Pz III's & IV's. No? With respect to the T34; like many things (gives Tiger I a sideways glance) looking at the stats alone they were formidable. In reality they had some fundamental weaknesses...

Hi, I was wondering if there was a quick reference sheet for O group that had been posted somewhere? Thanks!
Dannielle Lee Leonard

Re: Figure ratio

I'm thinking of buying the O Group rules but I am really looking for a game with a figure ratio of 1:1 for tanks and guns. On the General de Brigade forums there is a pre-release introduction to the rules by Dave Brown that says: "Figure Scale: One model figure = 2 to 3 men. One model AFV = 1 AFV. ...

Re: Deploying off a CP

I'd just take it easy and say it doesn't matter. The platoon/unit is in the BUA. That's it. You know it's there and your opponent knows it's there. What matter does it make. If your opponent wants to shoot the unit in the BUA they they'll be targeting the footprint of the BUA not the exact location...

Re: Airborne drops and beach landings

Played em back in early 70's dunno if they have stood the test of time however I think the whole "I go, you go" turn sequence is all a bit old hat nowadays And the lack of force moral or victory conditions etc. Agreed, although I suspect Phil would have expected the players to do the victory condit...

Re: Airborne drops and beach landings

I don't know if you're deliberately referencing it, but this is the actual rule for airborne infantry drops in Dirtside 2. I haven't played it for lack of any friends with an interest, but that rule stuck with me after I read it. I was actually referencing Phil Barkers 1925-1950 WRG rules although ...
