Re: Perennial basing/unit size question

Despite originally trying to pay some lip service to frontages we ended up not bothering in the end. We now literally just concern ourselves with the size of the units in game terms such as small, medium and large, the only thing that the rules we intend to play (GdA, BP and Bataille Empire) are con...

Re: Perennial basing/unit size question

This has been interesting. We have been playing (and will still play) Black Powder for 7YW in 15mm and it's me that's convinced the group to expand to Napoleonics, again 15mm. The basing sizes that we settled on are: Infantry: 4 x 25mm x 25mm bases, 4 figures on each. Skirmishers 2 to a base 50mm x ...

Re: Cavalry Double Line vs Column of Squadrons

Hi Legere, The main benefit of being in double line is the greater manoeuvrability of the unit and ability to move through a smaller gap. However, there is another benefit if you have a second cavalry unit providing support to the first and charging alongside it. If both are in double line then you...

Re: Cavalry Double Line vs Column of Squadrons

I was reading through this and scratching my head a bit currently. Sort of similar but I can't really see any advantage to deploying cavalry in double line over single line. The only difference seeming to be the -1 'narrower frontage' modifier on the charge table. As there seems to be no benefit in ...

Re: Compiled walkthrough video - is there one?

Thanks, yeah I've seen those. Was just wondering if there was an edited one with the first 7 joined together.

Re: Releasing Reserves example (p.23)

Thanks. Indeed I did LOL. Had a feeling the use of 1 ADC to release on-table reserves was an omission on p.22 normally I read through to the end before asking things like this but I'll have no internet for 3-4 days after today so wanted to be sure I wasn't misunderstanding something. I did look thro...

Releasing Reserves example (p.23)

Just going through the rules and might be asking prematurely (it might be clearer when I've finished) but the example on p. 23 for reserves talks about using 1 ADC to release Maitland's brigade. The example doesn't make it clear whether they are on or off table reserves. On p.22 I can see a referenc...

Re: Cavalry unit sizes

Thought I'd seen this somewhere too but having just done a PDF search of the rules, using all manner of terms, the only reference I found to 3,4 & 5 bases were the number of skirmish bases a small, medium and large brigade can put out. But I'm sure I've seen reference to 3,4 & 5 base battalion sizes...

Re: Compiled walkthrough video - is there one?

Oh quite a lot. British / French but mostly Peninsular as the Waterloo add-ons hadn't really come out by then. Quite a few were painted by Neil Mullis too.

Compiled walkthrough video - is there one?

Got the pdf of the rules, just waiting for the hard copy and double token set to arrive. Really looking forward to playing them, my second dive into Napoleonics having last played around 10 years ago with GdB and a great collection of AB figures which I am now painting up AGAIN having offloaded them...
