Re: Initiative and Skirmishers

Thanks John

That’s what I thought. However given my previous record of missing some issues within the rules I thought it would be safer to check.

Thanks

Initiative and Skirmishers

Hi there. I’ve been looking at the couple of previous threads on skirmishers screening and close order troops. John clarified the position on skirmishers within 3 in and the fact that skirmishers always fire on other skirmishers even when within 3 in of their formed troops. Never picked that up in t...

Re: Screen or not to screen.

Thanks John.

Feel much better now. I’m off to practice dice throws. In yesterday’s game out of 13 dice in 2nd round melee I got 3 hits out of 13 dice. Needless to say my opponent got 8/14. Either I’m throwing them wrong or he’s got loaded dice!

Re: Screen or not to screen.

Hi John, Thanks for the reply. I normally have skirmishers well outside 3in, engaging with the opposition skirmishers. On this occasion my opponent claimed that because he had initiative, and their position was exactly 3 in in front of my advancing line after the line’s movement of 6 in, the British...

Screen or not to screen.

Hi all. Today we fought the Hill of Arinez. It didn’t go well. My veteran brigades only wanted to go hesitant and they did for the first 5 bounds. DTs sorted the rest out and no charges went in. We thought we had most of the rules well sorted and then my opponent came up with a new interpretation. B...

Re: Infantry assault order

Hi Jim, The way we would play it is that the objective would be given. I.e. Take the Hill or Clear the enemy forces defending the front of the hill. In the case of the former they would have to remove the enemy forces before taking the Hill. In the latter case a new IA would have to issued to take t...

Re: Infantry assault order

Hi Jim,

As far as we play it the IA remains in place until the objective is taken. If the initial French assault had been repulsed the IA would remain in place allowing them to charge again. In the same manner, until the Netherlanders are removed, the objective is not fully completed.

Re: Flank clarification

Just found on pg 56 a clarification that skirmishers can move sideways to the flank no more than 3 inches per bound. So this move could not be done in one bound.

Flank clarification

Good evening all. Today we fought the Puebla Heights. I attacked to the left of the village Subijana. My opponent moved his skirmisher screen as I moved up to his left flank to cover the brigade occupying the village and the other side of the village. Their skirmish screen had been dispersed and I w...

Re: Charge Query

John,

We do exactly the same and have agreed to continue to do so. Thanks for your feedback.
