Scenario 1 and 2 are not directly linked to the axis of atrack. They are flanking units but their results impact on the main attack that starts with scenario 3. Subtly but hopefully historically.

When initially written it was straight BK rules from the 1940 handbook. At some point Rich changed the VC so will need to ask him how that one works.

Umm am confused - either thay are in an a close assault or not. If not they can remove shock and fire if attached and the unit is ordered to fire as Capt F said If in assault no firing or removing of shock unless it is done prior to assault. Nope very colourful but doubt it reflects an official TO&E.
In reality of course that could be Soviet Brigade by 1945
But CoC is based on theoretical manual sizes.

As a long time CoC player and Soviet player I have no problem in operating in squads (even though my 1934 he Soviets didn't always) and often never use my teams in Brit or German forces either. You will see why once you begin to play. Single teams are juicy targets

I wouldn't worry too much about it as they only count the same as covering fire they no longer dominate the game in the same way .

If possible I like to place 2 teams from 2 different sections near my support wepons, especially ones with small crew numbers like AT weapons or MMG.

I suspect I will end up writing my own Soviet Assault Engineers list rather than wait as we are progressing in chronological order 😂
