Re: Air Gunners: Can They and?

John- My assumption has been to prevent the vagaries of the card deck allowing a fighter to pass through a bomber formation (especially a large one) without receiving any gunner fire at all. First, imagine a B-17 formation with only one gunner card. The card comes out near the beginning of the deck,...

Re: Air Gunners: Can They and?

So I’m constantly rethinking my interpretation of the rules. The way I was playing before, an entire 9 plane formation of bombers could direct all of their fire at a single fighter. Perhaps if there was just one fighter, but what if there were 3 or 4? You could game it and direct all of you fire at ...

Re: Fire Factors

Using my formula, I would say: MS406: 1D for each wing gun (2D total) 5D for the 20mm cannon (2D for the 20mm, an additional 2D for being cannon armed [a one time bonus, not for each cannon, although in this case there is only the one cannon], and 1D for being on centerline. So, MS406 has a FF of 7 ...

Interesting & undergamed period – P-51s & B-29s over Japan

Played an interesting game of Bag The Hun. As usual, inspired by a pair of Osprey titles: Very Long Range P-51 Mustang Units of the Pacific War and B-29 Superfortress vs Ki-44 "Tojo". The scenario was April 1945 over Japan. I had eleven B-29s in the formation describe in the second book, escorted by...

Re: Air Gunners: Can They and?

For gunners, on each card I only allow one attempt at shooting an enemy aircraft. So one gunner plus 1 dice for each additional gunner in range per the rules. One change I do make from the rules is that I only allow additional gunners within 4 hexes of the target vice 8. With 8 usually the entire fo...

Re: Mission 85

I have this book and it’s great. I thought about doing the very thing you suggested, but the only thing that held me back was the fact that pilots wouldn’t carry over from one mission to the next as they are all on the same day. I like using the same pilots from mission to mission Squadron Forward s...

Sorry I wasn’t clear above. I meant that every time the leader’s card comes up.

Re: Rules question & General queries!

Captain Martin- Here’s my two cents on your questions: 1) Spotting bogeys. When a section or character spots, are they spotting the whole of the target formation, or just an individual plane within it? I think the whole formation. 2) Bogeys movement - If your bogeys are representing aircraft with an...

Has anybody tried the BTH pre-game maneuvering board from the latest Lard Special?

I was wondering if anybody has tried the BTH pre-game maneuvering board from the latest Lard Special. If so, what did you think? Like. Dislike. To complicated. Great addition. Only makes sense to the author.
