Re: Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

Thanks, zabarr. Yes, "Waterloo, the French Perspective" is a fantastic book as are Andrew Field's other books on the campaign - especially "Waterloo: Rout and Retreat" as this is usually covered in a paragraph or two in other books. Now, if there are any historians out there that are interested in c...

Re: Number of brigade skirmishers stands for Reservists Battalions.

To add to that, when reinforcing the skirmish line via a Skirmisher's Tasking, the reservist battalion wouldn't lose the base for "recruit" unless at 4+ casualties.

Re: Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

I’m a pretty easy going reviewer. As long as I think the author has put in a decent effort I’ll give them credit. However, if the author makes claims that are out of the ordinary then a closer and more critical examination is warranted. Such is the case with Paul Dawson’s book, Waterloo: The Truth a...

Really terrific looking force. Nicely done.

John
Thanks, John.

If an army can’t be terrific in the battlefield then at least it should be terrific looking. Nothing like running away in style.

Re: Project Bailen - Spanish

SD, Very nice figures indeed! 8-) Are the Catalan lancers all conversions? DB Thanks, DB. They are converted from AB British light dragoons at rest. They’re a straight forward conversion - remove jacket lace, add lance and add lance loop. If I did this again I would use strands from electrician wir...

Project Bailen - Spanish

I’m nearing the end of painting up figures for re-fighting the Battle of Bailen. I’m currently working on the Garde Marins and after that I will have one more Spanish line unit to do. The re-fight(s) will not be an exact copy of the actual battle as that would be somewhat pointless. The first will b...

As for holding back or not, I prefer to come out of a discussion not as a winner or loser but merely wiser.

Dawson’s Waterloo Truth at Last book

Not specifically GdA but Dawson makes some claims which if true requires changes in at least troop ratings and perhaps rules. I have some comments but would like to read what others think before posting my comments.

This was prompted by a discussion on TMP but I’d rather discuss here.
