Re: Infantry Guns firing rules

Isn't the le IG in the support list ? That would make it a choice for deploying, I think.

Re: 1944 Free French Forces

The 1st RCP, paratroopers, were trained and armed as American ones. They were the only ones to get a full alotment of Garand in the French 1st army. RMT were too armed with Garand, but they were part of the US 3rd army.

Re: 1944 Free French Forces

Hi there, sorry for the delay... So you're right, French had mainly M1903 and M1917 as rifles. They had BAR's too, but some units kept their FM24/29 or BRENs. BAR was the basic weapon, so FM and BRENs should be in the support list. Extra BARs were reallocatedso that units had the normal equipment. C...

Re: The Automatic Rifle

Re- Reading French training manuals. Walking fire was part of the training and the doctrine in 1940 and 1943-44. FM 24/29 was an automatic rifle as was thé BAR. Should'nt it be treated as an automatic rifle ?

Re: The Automatic Rifle

From what I recall, Fusil-Mitrailleur was designed to be a MG-Killer and intended to be used while marching. In 1940, French trained the FM operator to use his weapon while marching towards the ennemy during the close-assault firing full box in a few bursts. He was then operating the FM alone.
