Overwatch/tactical goes away when the unit does something else. To keep suppression fire going the unit has to keep at it. It's a fire action, and they only carry on for a single phase. There is logic to letting it keep going, but then the same is true for firing for effect.

But once consolidated like that, you should probably consider it a squad (activated on a 2) and no longer a team (activated on a 1).

If the gun with shield is in the open, and an infantry team in the open is within 4", I would say that as per the rules you could concentrate on the infantry or the crew, as they are in different cover.

I wonder if the translation is correct: since they are the only riflemen in the platoon, I wonder if the term should be more like 'troopers' than 'horseholders'.

I think one of the issues may be troop density. A single large building could absorb a whole platoon, I would imagine. Still, it would be an interesting challenge. Where there are multiple smaller buildings I wonder if the Soviet squads could find themselves at a disadvantage against the more flexib...
