IIRC, for ordinary rifle sections, the Bren team "commander" was a lance-corporal who was responsible for directing the firing of the weapon and ensuring there was enough ammo to maintain the required rate of fire; the gunner and No.2 were responsible for maintaining the weapon, re-loading...

We use the 1:300 Cruel Seas vessels and a 6' x 4' table. Seems to work ok.
