Re: Tank Fire Twice in Phase

It’s an unusual set of circumstances but the rules as written would allow the Sherman to fire on Interrupt. A unit simply has to be on the table and not pinned to be eligible to Interrupt. Spending a CoC Dice is a major investment of command effort on the US player’s part. I’d rationalise it as the ...

Re: Transfer and Wiped Out

When the rifle team is merged into the LMG team the Shock goes with them, just as in the situation where an ad hoc team rejoins its parent section. The rifle team has not been Wiped Out by the enemy so no BTH test is needed. Contrary to Peter’s answer, the squad ceases to exist, it is now a single t...

Re: To disorder or not to disorder

Any unit which Retires, Retreats or Routs moves directly backwards for the first 6” of the move and will interpenetrate and disorder any friends they encounter within that distance. After that their own organisation has broken down to the point that they will flow around any friends. Hope that helps...

Re: Covering Fire

Hi Marcus, Overwatch and Tactical rarely last until the Turn End, the unit will usually do something else before then which ends them such as firing on the enemy. Control of the use of ammunition by a section or platoon commander was an important element of their job. Covering fire uses up ammo so n...

Re: Nation lists unclear?

Hi Jonathan, If you are looking for a list for the kind of Combat Engineer squad or platoon you hint at in your second option, then I suggest that you take a look at the German Combat Pioneer list in the Blitzkreig 1940 Handbook for an example. These are very highly trained troops with a very specif...

Re: Soviet Engineers. Op:Winter Storm

Hi Jonathan, I can’t help on the historic composition of Soviet Assault Engineer platoons, but the composition of Engineer teams and squad for the purpose of that support option is set out on pages 81 and 82 of the core rules. Basically it’s simply two 3 man engineer teams selected immediately befor...

Re: Fog of War cards and command rolls

Hi SD, I have yet to use FoW cards in a game. I would be inclined to use your suggestion of allocating any dummy cards to individual brigades and simply rolling for the brigade concerned. However, I don’t see any problem if you wanted to create a brigade consisting of mainly dummy cards with perhaps...

Re: GDA2

Hi Dave, These are combined rules questions and points that could be explained better in V2. 1. From a terminology point of view Garrison Fire is neither skirmish fire nor volley fire - so the fire range rules don't cover this. What is the range of fire for Garrison fire? At the moment we are playi...

Re: Deploying the HJ Pz IV in "Martlet"

Yes you can deploy it directly into the tank scrape within 6” of a JOP. It’s assumed to have been moved into position prior to the game start. To minimise the risk of any problems with your opponent you might want to mark the position on a map or make a note of it before the game starts after the JO...
