Is there a reason for the crenellated gun shield?

Baron , I suppose I could trim it down a bit,
I miscalculated the height of the middle portion of the shield, I tried to position it in a slightly elevated position, .
I had no plans with measurement to work off just photos from the internet and a bit of "guess arama measurements"
Will correct that with the other 2 guns I made.

Oh, I was talking about the scalloped edge around the two pieces - the rest of it looked fine (at least to my untutored eye!).
