Pickett's Charge in 6mm

Post by roughneck2 » Mon Apr 23, 2018 11:11 pm

Hi all

Very interested in purchasing these rules but was wondering if they can be played in 6mm.
If so, are there any recommended base sizes and changes to measurements (e.g. changing inches to centimeters)

regards
Roger

Yep - for 6mm the suggestion is to change the 28mm measurements currently in inches into cms.

Thanks Dave.

That's good to know. Do you have any recommendations for base sizes to give a reasonably close approximation of ACW frontages if using 6mm.

Hi

Still havent managed to get a game of Picketts Charge, we're working to get enough bases together to run the Antietam: Attack on bloody lane scenario from the rule book in 6mm.

We previously used Piquet Field of Battle rules for ACW and it is very good fun, it felt a bit too easy to get into close combat, changing all the measurements that are in inches to centimenters works well.

I base my infantry on 25x25mm mdf, 2 strips of 8 figures to a base. I quite like that when they march theyre in column of fours. Skirmishers and sharpshooters are on a 20x40 4 men to a base

Cavalry and artillery are on 30mmx30mm square 1 gun and 4 crew and 3 cavalry figures to a base, if i was to do it again I'd up the cavalry to 6 figs a base they look a bit sparse

Finally officers, CiC is on a 40x40 base with lota of flags and staff, Brigade commanders are 1 officer and a cavalryman with a pennant. Staff officers will be 1 officer figure on a round base looking important.

6mm is a great scale for mass battles, you can keep a division in a biscut tin!

Looks very good - esp. the basing!
