I think you are correct.
It seems to have been necessary to lower the spade for firing. It wasnt well balanced. Film of them firing with it lowered shows a definate backward movement of the whole vehicle.
It also only carried 8 rounds of ammo.
They were only issued to Artillery units.
They seem to have been well thought of in their intended roll however.

Well, it's an SP howitzer so yes, most of the time it's delivering indirect artillery fire. However, SP artillery was sometimes brought up to the front and used for direct fire, especially when the enemy were heavily dug in or in buildings. Rich presumably dug up some reference to the Germans doing exactly that in his research for the this campaign.
As for the spade, that's a fair point. Without knowing too much about how the real vehicle worked maybe you could require it to spend an activation stationary while it lowers the spade? It's absolutely lethal, so nerfing it slightly wouldn't be the worst thing.

Would the added activation effect its support list level?Seret wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 1:54 pmWell, it's an SP howitzer so yes, most of the time it's delivering indirect artillery fire. What have they done in regard to the unstable carriers.... the Belgian ones? Carden-Lloyd maybe? The ones that can tumble over if not dug in.Ham and Jam wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 2:43 amWould the added activation effect its support list level?Seret wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 1:54 pmWell, it's an SP howitzer so yes, most of the time it's delivering indirect artillery fire. That might give a precedent.
Re: Von luck and Lorraine schlepper
Theres no special rules for the Belgian Carden Lloyd frc 47mm. Its a support option iin the blitzkrieg book. In reality they were used as static guns along the meuse by the Frontier Cyclists and were no longer mobile on May 10th.
Re: Von luck and Lorraine schlepper
Normally smaller stuff like fast turrets, Ronson, etc don't get factored in, so my feeling would be "no". But it's up to you really.Ham and Jam wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 2:43 amWould the added activation effect its support list level?
To be honest, even if it cost an extra activation to set it up to fire I think the German players would be more than happy to pick it as their support, so I don't think dropping the cost is a good idea. Once it does start firing it just obliterates whatever it's shooting at.

p35 of Blitzkrieg:
"Carden Loyd mk Vi with FRC M1931
Players fielding this AFC may not move and fire in the same Phase. When firing any double rolled to hit the target will result in the vehicle tipping over and becoming unusable"
It's a List 3 support. What should it be according to the COCulator?
Re: Von luck and Lorraine schlepper
Oops missed that rule!Tomm wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 10:17 pmp35 of Blitzkrieg:

This is why in real life they were used as static gun positions and made immobile.
Re: Von luck and Lorraine schlepper
Yeah, there's a rule which says that if they're dug in (for free) they count as badly obscured, can't move, but ignore that rule.
