Afrika Korps Metal 28mm Figures

Post by joe.harrison89 » Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:55 am

Hi,

I'm not really stuck on plastic figures and much prefer metal figures.I'm finding it difficult to find a range in metals that I really like for DAK, or 8th Army for that matter.

Warlord and Perrys do have some nice support troops but only one metal rifle squad a piece. I have bought these already but need more with a bit more variety.

I have also bought an Offensive Miniature DAK squad which are ok but not really my favourite.

West wind have a single DAK pack but not too sure about them. Also Artizan but they are a bit too dramatic, especially next to Perrys. Its a pity Crusader don't do the WW2 Desert War as I really like them.

Black Tree Design could really fill in the gaps but they are so unreliable. No idea if they are operational again or if order will disappear and never arrive!

Have I missed any?

Thanks

I suspect the only way to do it would be to use German figures that aren't badged as DAK, so if you can find Early War figures in the cap and use those.

Apart from Blacktree I think you have covered them.

They are advertising currently but I dunno if their service levels are back to acceptable yet.

Westwind are OK but the separate head system are larger and mix in with bigger ranges, while the earljer ranges are more Warlord / Perry size.

What didn't you like about the Offensive Miniatures ones?
Their US Paras look great but they are too small for the Blacktree/Artizan/Crusader mix.

That's true. Offensive are nice put the rifle seemed small compared to other brand, of course the rifles on other manufacturers could be too big! So it's not a criticism.

I have been given some advice and I have decided to go for Artizan in the end. I don't want to risk black tree until I am sure the have a decent service is up and running.

Have you had a look at these?

I think these are at the Perry end of the scale.

PS Artizan will look rather large next to Perry and Offensive YMMV.

Black Tree delivered for me. Took about 4 months with multiple prods. Not entirely what one would hope for.

And I would definitely avoid Black Tree. It's over a year and they still haven't got my order fixed. Have a look at the thread on LAF if you want a taste of their customer service standards.
